Shroud
Shroud, Pshaw! Sure Shroud makes sense for "Can't be target of spells and abilities" some of the time. Alexi's Cloak, Sure. Wispersilk Cloak, Okay. They are shrouded can't be be seen by some magical means hidden from plain view ergo you can't target them, but there are a slew of other reasons why things can't be targeted. Maybe you can see it but it's guarded. Maybe you can see it but you can't figure out where to hit it with the spell. There's also the case of Zephid where spells just don't like him. You know what's a great keyword that would mean "Can't be target of spells and abilities" ? UNTARGETABLE !!!

Dryad Arbor
Dryad Arbor is a Land Creature - Forest Dryad. I wonder why they did not make it a Land-Forest Creature-Dryad. It seems to me that the later is more intuitive to the uninformed reader. Additionally this means that you can't introduce new subtypes on dual type cards, because people won't know which is which. For example let's say I wanted a creature to have two subtypes Spirit & a new type Vision, but I also want to make it an Enchantment. If I print "Enchanment Creature-Vision Spirit" it's ambiguous as to whether vision is a creature type or Enchantment type.

YouTube
The future of Pro level magic lies in the hands of youtube. It's simply incredible. The video on demand is just like watching matches in real life, you don't like a match you go wander over to another table. This will give more exposure than ESPN2 ever could, plus it's hitting the target audience so much better.

212.6g
212.6g If an object is both a land and another type, it can be played only as a land. It can’t be played as a spell. If I ever became rules manager I would delete this rules right away. It was originally added after the mirrodin artifact lands came out, but since then cards with no mana costs have been printed teaching us no mana cost doesn't mean zero mana cost. Now 212.6g makes it so you Mind's Desire and hit a Lotus Bloom you can play it, but if you hit an Ancient Den, which is also an artifact with no mana cost, you can only play it using your land drop for the turn. All because of dreaded 212.6g. The removal of this dreaded rule also opens up the opportunity of cards that you can play using your land drop or play by paying it's mana cost.

Forest
I was thinking about the push for rules-less subtypes left artifacts enchantments and lands with rule carrying subtypes. Aura & equipment I solved right away make it so that Artifacts without equipment can still be attached, and any rules that Aura needed to be shoved onto the "enchant" ability. Lands gave me a problem, and even though it's not 100% perfected I think I have the start of an Idea. Make Forest Island Swamp Mountain & Plains types instead of subtypes. So a standard forest would read "Basic Forest Land" & a taiga would read "Forest Mountain Land" There would still be subtypes like so "Forest Land - Lair". It's something I have to think a little more about, but I think it might work.

Snow
I never liked the snow supertype because, to be honest, it just sounded stupid. Snow as an adjective makes it sound like the thing is made out of snow. A snow creature should have a button nose & 2 eyes made out of coal. Arctic would have been a thousand times better. Acrtic is an adjective that sounds like it's native to a cold place. I dunno just seems that it would've been better.
Divulge
One of the aspects of magic that give it so mauch drama and excitement is the incomplete information created by a player's hand. Your opponent not knowing what is in your hand is valuable, but how valuable is it ? This lgot me thinking of a keyword "Divulge [Cost] - [Effect]" meaning "[Cost], Remove this card in your hand from the game: [Effect], As long as this is removed from the game, you may play it." For example:
Mana Erosion UU
Instant
Counter target spell unless it's controller pays 3
Divulge U - Draw a card
You get the divulge effect but then your opponent knows you have the card in your hand.

Armor of Thorns
I think that it's ridiculous that armor of thorns & it's substance enchantment bretherin do not have flash. If you cast mystical teachings you could not search for them, but all of it's kin, the masques & champions enchant creatures, were errata'd to have flash. In fact, all other instances of "play as an instant" in the game were changed except except for these mirage block auras. I asked around the judge hangouts, and the only answer I could find was that the substance wording was so complicated they didn't want to complicate it more. I don't know if this is the actual reason, but if it is it's a dumb one.

Splendid Genesis
This is my Magic: The Gathering Blog. Everyday I'm going to make a post in this blog about magic. Either a tirade about something in the game, my experience wining or most likely scrubbing out in a tourney, or at the very least a new card idea. Some of my posts may be inconsequential and/or short, but I'm promising myself that nothing will stop me from making a new post everyday, untill I sign a non-disclosure agreement when I start working at wizards.
